NINE women remain in the fight for Gerry Turner's heart on The Golden Bachelor after one contestant left in a devastating exit - and fans are not happy.

Joan went on to get a rose during her romantic one-on-one date, but her happiness was short-lived as a family emergency caused her to leave the show in a devastating exit.

Fans took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to speculate the real reason behind Joan's exit, many blaming her daughter after a half-aired phone call.

One person said: "Ew. You could tell Joan’s daughter was really b******g at her on the phone and that’s why the producers didn’t air her voice. Does her daughter not have a partner? Other family? Seems real selfish and I don’t think Joan wanted to go home."

"Sorry, but I can’t believe Joan is leaving," another fan wrote. "Unless her daughter is in a very bad way, she should be fine and needs to let her mom [pursue] happiness again. I can’t imagine impeding my mom this way."

A third tweeted: "Sounds like the daughter has mommy issues. Unless she had a medical emergency but it didn't sound like it or Joan would've said. Instead it's my daughter needs me likely bc she just had a baby & needs help."

The Golden Bachelor airs Thursdays at 8pm ET on ABC, or the show can be streamed on Hulu Live TV here. The episode is also available on Hulu here.

  • What to expect from Gerry’s dream girl

Gerry’s close friend Heather revealed to The U.S Sun: “He needs somebody who would travel with him. He likes to travel. He does spend a lot of time with his daughters and grandkids so that’s important. Gerry is very family-oriented.

“And she’s got to love the water! I think he would move or have the woman move here. Either one, that’s going to be based on however that goes down. I don’t think he would be limited to moving.”

Heather added: “I hope there is maturity that goes along with this age bracket rather than what we typically see. But no matter the age, women can be catty.

“He’s a very smart man. He’ll be fine.”
