Prince William is attending the 2024 BAFTA Awards solo.

On Sunday, the royal, who has been the president of the British Academy of Film and Television Arts since 2010, arrived at this year's ceremony without his wife Kate Middleton, as she continues to recover at home from her recent abdominal surgery. Ahead of the award show, Kensington Palace confirmed the Prince of Wales would still "attend the EE BAFTA Film Awards ceremony at the Royal Festival Hall on Sunday 18th February" despite Kate's absence, adding: "The Prince, President of the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) will watch the Awards ceremony before meeting category winners and EE Rising Star Award nominees."

For the occasion, William switched up his usual black tuxedo for an edgy blue velvet version, which he styled with a silver wristwatch and black patent leather dress shoes.

Last year, Will and Kate made their debut as the Prince and Princess of Wales at the 2023 BAFTA Awards, where they coordinated in black-and-white looks. For her part, Kate wore a dreamy white one-shouldered gown with a flowing bow detail and accessorized with black satin opera gloves, a matching boxy clutch, and statement-making gold leaf earrings. Meanwhile, William opted for a velvet black double-breasted smoking jacket with black trousers and a bow tie.

As for William and Kate's next joint appearance? It likely won't be until after Easter. According to the Palace, Kate isn't expected to return to public duties until the end of March "based on the current medical advice."
